Kabul, September 1, 2003; The matter of rebuilding the Darul-Aman Palace as a symbol of democratization in Afghanistan has been discussed in today’s cabinet meeting of the transitional Afghan government. The cabinet has asked me to inform the city of Karlsruhe that, once completed, the palace will be available to the freely elected Afghan parliament as its permanent seat. The Afghan government is to view and promote this step as a symbol of the reintroduction of a democratic constitutional state in Afghanistan.
